NACO supports GRI's Airport Sector Sustainability Supplement

On Wednesday 8 June the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will launch its new sustainability reporting guidelines for Airport Operators. NACO has advised and supported GRI during the multi-stakeholder development process and is co-author of the Airport Operators Sector Supplement.

The Supplement includes additional Performance Indicators for the airport sector, ensuring that sustainability reports by airport operators effectively cover the sector’s key issues.

Key issues

The Supplement covers the key issues for the airport sector such as biodiversity, emissions, effluents and waste, noise, water, human trafficking, discriminatory practices in security-screening processes, impact of operations on local communities, and emergency preparedness.

GRI, supported by Netherlands Airport Consultants (NACO), worked with an international multi-stakeholder Working Group to develop the Supplement. The Working Group consists of airport operators, labor and non-governmental organizations. For an overview see  www.globalreporting.org/reportingframework/sectorsupplements/airports/.

"This sector-specific reporting guidance will enable airport operators to make sustainability reports more relevant and easier to produce", says NACO's Tim van Vrijaldenhoven. He will be contributing to the launch on 8 June 2011 regarding indicators that have been developed for the Airport Operators Sector Supplement.

You are invited to participate in the virtual launch on Wednesday 8 June 2011.
